On May 19th 2013, the Metropole Orkest presented a concert in Amsterdam, celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Ballads”. The performance featured renowned tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano. The orchestra was conducted by composer Daniel Jamieson, and they premiered his reimagined arrangements of these classic standards.

Het Metropole Orkest viert het 50-jarig bestaan van Ballads met Joe Lovano, sinds jaar en dag één van ‘s werelds beste saxofonisten. Joe Lovano won een Grammy Award en maakte tot op heden zo’n 25 albums onder zijn eigen naam. Gezaghebbend jazztijdschrift Down Beat riep zijn album Quartets Live at the Village Vanguard in 1995 uit tot ‘Jazz Album of the Year’.
